for your weekend

Today marks the end of the 31 day challenge. Which granted, I more or less turned into the 15 day challenge. But you know what? I couldn't be happier with posting 15 days out of the month. That consistency in writing FAR surpasses any level I've been at over the last several years, so no complaints. Could I have written more? Yes, I sure could have slapped some stuff up here, but I'm glad I didn't. I'm glad that I stuck with giving myself the room to breathe when I needed it, and writing only what I really felt compelled to write instead of out of sheer obligation.

Looking at the bigger picture, I see that this challenge coincided with a few things in my little writing world. First of all, the ever so obvious writing conference I went to. Secondly, in the last few weeks I've gotten news of a few fun things coming down the pike for this little blog, so stay tuned for those!

A few things that have caught my attention this week:

My week with a flip phone  I actually will be doing something like this soon—my phone has some sort of short in it and it needs to be sent in to the manufacturer for service, at which point I'll be issued a temporary replacement phone from my provider, which will likely be a standard issue flip phone. And I can hardly fathom it and so keep putting it off and living with a phone that cuts in and out—because that, sadly, feels like the lesser inconvenience, even though sending it in will just take a few weeks. I'm crazy.

The conversation bloggers are having about you Some great thoughts and questions about where blogging is going. I've been keeping an eye on the comments.

Pretty much everything Erin has written recently. Especially this.

I've also been hanging out over at the Allume blog this week, following the link-up to see what other people's reflections on the conference were. It's always interesting to me to see multiple points of view.

And, I'm working on finishing Lena Dunham's Not That Kind of Girl, and I've also started Atlas Girl, one of the books (a memoir) I brought back from Allume.

We don't really have any Halloween plans tonight—the weather is supposed to be cold and rainy. But I'll still put Ingrid in her costume (hint: moo) for 5 minutes, snap a picture, and put it on instagram so that I contribute to the obligatory Halloween photo trend. :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!
